GP practices have joined forces in Sandwell and West Birmingham to improve patient care and deliver consistent, quality services through an innovative NHS scheme.

Ovarian cancer: the killer symptoms to look out for

11 women die in the UK every day from ovarian cancer. Awareness nationally is low, that’s why health leaders at NHS Sandwell and West Birmingham Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) are supporting Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month in March to raise awareness of the symptoms of ovarian cancer as early diagnosis is crucial. ​

Call to crackdown on Child Sexual Exploitation in Sandwell and West Birmingham

Residents in Sandwell and West Birmingham are being urged to familiarise themselves with the typical signs of child sexual exploitation (CSE) and report anything suspicious about it they may see.

The call from NHS Sandwell and West Birmingham Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is being made in the lead up to the NWG Network charity’s National Child Sexual Exploitation Awareness Day (Sunday 18 March).

On 16 March from 1-5pm, the CCG’s safeguarding team and key partners, including Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals Trust, will have a stand in New Square, West Bromwich to raise awareness of CSE to the public. Children’s charity, Barnardo’s, is supporting this event and members of the public are invited to go along to find out more.

People in Sandwell and West Birmingham are being urged to use health services wisely as Sandwell and City Hospitals are experiencing extremely high numbers of attendees at their Accident and Emergency departments. 

Eat, drink and be healthy – Nutrition and Hydration Week 2018

The frail and elderly and those who care for them are being reminded of the importance of good food and drinking fluids in a special campaign supported by health leaders in the Black Country.

Nutrition and Hydration Week, which runs from 12-18 March, is an important annual campaign which focuses on promoting awareness and encouraging people to ensure good nutrition and hydration as part of their daily diet.
