Patients are encouraged to use online services offered by their GP

Patients living in Sandwell and West Birmingham areas can now benefit from GP online services which make it easier to book appointments and order repeat prescriptions.  NHS Sandwell and West Birmingham Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is encouraging patients to use the online services, which are now available from the majority of GP practices in the area.

Many practices in Sandwell and West Birmingham offer GP online services; appointment booking, ordering of repeat prescription, and access to summary information in records.

Top Tips to stay well in cold weather

It is important that we all take extra precautions as colder weather sweeps across the area this week. Prolonged periods of cold weather can be dangerous, especially for the very young, very old or those with chronic diseases.

The Met Office has issued a Level 3 cold weather alert for the Sandwell & West Birmingham CCG area and is urging caution during the severe weather conditions which could mean temperatures of 2°C and/or widespread ice and heavy snow.

The cold weather is lingering which means it’s even more important that patients are choosing the right care, following advice around self-care and staying well in the comfort of their own homes. 

Winter conditions can be seriously bad for patients’ health, especially for those aged 65 or over and patients with long-term conditions. It’s important that patients protect and care for themselves and those around them.
