Involving the Voluntary Community Sector

Text size:

The CCG works closely with the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise sector (VCSE) in the CCG's engagement activities or news. We work closely with both the Birmingham Voluntary Services Council (BVSC) and Sandwel Council of Voluntary Organisations (SCVO).

Birmingham Voluntary Service Council works in partnership with Sandwell and West Birmingham CCG, in supporting engagement and development within the VCSE sector in Ladywood and Perry Barr around health.

There is focus in ensuring VCSE organisations are aware of recent and ongoing changes within the health service, as well as preparing organisations to be able to effectively influence health structures, and have the capacity to respond to challenges within the environment.

Currently, work is underway in developing a partnership across Ladywood and Perry Barr focusing on the health outcomes identified by the Care Alliance, with a view to build upon existing or new activities to meet the health needs of the local population.  There are opportunities for organisations to feed into the Care Alliance and help shape the agenda around specific health outcomes.

BVSC is also able to capture and share with the CCG, the position and views of the VCSE sector in West Birmingham and how this may shape future opportunities.

SCVO have worked with Sandwell and West Birmingham CCG as a key partner for several years now.  SCVO have a good relationship with staff at Sandwell and West Birmingham CCG through a two-way process of communication and engagement through the local VCS Health and Social Care Forum.

The CCG has also worked closely with SCVO to broker representation in cross-sector workshops: bringing frontline voluntary and community sectors views and insights into discussions on the local Outcomes Framework, prioritisation of outcome areas for collaborative place-placed planning, and information sharing on local needs, services and innovations.
