Patients and the public are invited to our next Governing Body meeting in public. The meeting takes place on Wednesday 3 October from 2018 1.45PM – 4.00PM in The Board Room, 2F Kingston House, West Bromwich B70 9LD.

The Governing Body meets monthly in public to discuss its progress as a CCG and provide an opportunity for local people to see how health services are developing and improving for the benefit of patients.

The CCG has recently been shortlisted in the ‘Compassionate Patient Care’ category at the prestigious Health Service Journal (HSJ) Awards for the Connected Palliative Care (CPC) Service. This innovative new service provides a responsive 24/7 community based end of life care service to a diverse range of patients and their families.

Dr Nick Harding, Chair of NHS Sandwell and West Birmingham CCG, said:

"We look forward to welcoming patients and the public to our October meeting. These meetings are an ideal opportunity for local people to hear about the innovation and effective partnership working that has led to our recently receiving national recognition in the HSJ Awards.

"It’s important that patients have a much greater say in their healthcare and there are a number of ways that they can do that. Most of our GP practices now have a Patient Participation Group (PPG) which allows patients to work with the practice to ensure services are meeting the needs of local patients.

"Patients Network Meetings are an open forum of local residents, patients and community groups with an interest in health. It is a place where you can learn more about how we manage resources on behalf of our population. These networks are organised by our Engagement Team. Representatives from each of the PPGs from local GP practices are actively involved in the Patient networks.

"We have also established Patient Summits, which give clinicians in localities access to a wider network of patients, their carers and organisations who advocate on their behalf.
