What will patients get out of the NHS Long Term Plan?

Text size:

The NHS has produced a Long Term Plan based on the experiences of our patients and staff so we can be prepared for the future.

The challenges facing our diverse population have changed, as have our health needs. The NHS Long Term Plan has been written to make our NHS fit for the future and continually moving forward.

The NHS is already making significant changes and developing to meet the needs of patients and their families at every stage of their life, including cancer treatment, personalising care, diabetes and learning disabilities to name a few topics.

From now until the summer, staff, patients and the public will have the opportunity to help the national ambition outlined  in the NHS Long Term Plan be shaped into Sandwell and West Birmingham.

Dr Nick Harding, Chair of NHS Sandwell and West Birmingham CCG, said:

“We welcome the NHS Long Term Plan which was published earlier this week. This presents us with a great opportunity to work differently with a range of partners, including our patients to focus on giving everyone the best start in life; helping people live well with long term conditions, such as cancer and dementia; helping people to age well”.
