Have your say on Pain Management Services in Sandwell and West Birmingham

Text size:
NHS Sandwell and West Birmingham Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is currently reviewing local Pain Management services for its population, to ensure people have equal access to a high quality, fit for purpose service.

This listening exercise is part of a wider review of musculoskeletal services in Sandwell and West Birmingham.
The review is driven in part by our commitment to make improvements in line with the government’s national vision for the NHS as set out in the NHS Long Term Plan (published earlier this year) to improve the quality of care delivered to our patients and to help them achieve better health outcomes.

The review will need to consider the current service arrangements to ensure our population has fair and equal access to services. We also need to make sure we are avoiding duplication and protecting the public purse when we put local health services in place on behalf of the population, to ensure value for money is being delivered and to avoid waste of limited NHS finances.

This review gives the CCG an opportunity to listen and engage with people who have lived experience of chronic pain, to identify things that could be improved and help shape the way the service is delivered in the future. We would like to hear from people affected by long-term pain and their relatives/ carers/ representatives and other interested individuals who could help us do this.

Local NHS community pain management services are currently delivered by two providers including:

·       Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust
·       Tipton Medical Services Ltd
